Locally sourced clay pressed into CNC carved mold of terrain from the University of Kansas Field Station and fired, locally sourced catalpa wood

I used a CNC carved mold of the terrain of the University of Kansas Field Station to form locally sourced clay into a topographical map. Presented on a table made of local catalpa wood, Glacial Drift speaks to geological time and recent histories. The imagery of the table references community and gathering while the map is a method of orienting oneself in the landscape. While making this work I realized the exercise of learning from place was also about making a home.
